Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). She moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five where she attended the Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor at age six. After eight auditions consistently, director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were cast for the roles of the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut film appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001 The film broke records for its debut day revenue as well as opening weekend takings. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The well-known British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma received five awards to honor her role in the movie.
