Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21 1982. She is an American Actress best known as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington located in Ohio left high school, and relocating in Los Angeles after her divorced parents. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first part as the title character in the video on-demand series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002 she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. The show featured her as the principal character for two seasons and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace decided to leave the show in order to pursue a film career. She had starred alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog back in 2005. She was on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. She reprised this role in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). The actress also appeared in Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is a modern interpretation from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role as Shannon for two additional episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. In 2013, she was in the seventh season Californication. The character she plays is Faith who's both an avid stargazer as well as a the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She belongs to the Gyllenhaal clan as well as the sister to Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens, she began to work in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko along with her twin brother. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics in both of her roles as the lead of Secretary (2002) which is an erotic romance drama drama and Sherrybaby (2006). The actress was also nominated for her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she appeared in numerous commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However it was her performance as Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child received her a nomination to an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee as well as The Big Bang and Hysteria. The other roles she played were a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in the film Frank (2014) and her role as the lead in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first feature film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
